I'm happy to drive an old heap and live on the edge. Many fellow club
members around here are continuously replacing original parts on their cars
with some new gadget that may make the beast more dependable, but... I
still enjoy the mystery that goes with attempting a distant city and not
knowing if I'll ever make it. I've had just about everything fail on a car
that can break, burn out, drop off, shred, twist-in-two, flop, clatter,
bang, screech, flicker and thump. For me, the fun is not jumping in and
getting there - the fun is surviving the adventure.

have the best variable pressure pump limited resources can buy. What does it
matter as long as you aren't making modifications with a torch and a sheet
metal saw? I don't understand why you wouldn't bodge it if it makes it run
better and longer.

I have a modern pile of plastic, glass and a little iron that runs better.
Still I prefer to risk being stranded in a cold, blowing rain than to have
an old crock that will never break down. On the other hand, I don't
criticize those of us who want to use new replacement parts and modify
everything in sight to improve operation and dependability. After all, we
each have our own idea of what pleasure really is. I don't drive old,
obsolete cars because they are different, better or cute. I drive them
because they bring back pleasant memories, and because "I" like them!

Of course I also don't understand why MG and Triumph folk would argue which
is better since every one knows these are Marques you own only if you can't
afford a Jaguar.
