OK SOL's, just what is that puke that comes out when you probe the
engine block drain with a stick? In the bad old days of Model A and
T Fords, people used to use oatmeal (porridge) in the radiator to
stop leaks. What is in this new stuff? I have a C*ev. pickup truck
which in a previous life (engine) blew head gaskets with regularity.
It turned out that the head bolts were defective and kept breaking.
The first time it happened under warrenty the dealers refused to
totally reimburse me, so the next time a bolt broke, I just drove the
thing until the engine siezed and the dealer rebuilt the engine free
of charge! You figure. Anyway, I poured lots of stuff in the
radiator to stop or at least slow coolant leakage and so the dealer
had to clean out all that junk from the cooling system too. After
all, the clots have to go somewhere. I suggest the PO or we at a
weak moment have created porridge clots which congeal around any
flowing coolant portal including drain taps.
Maybe the circulatory systems of millions of LBC's are being
clogged by this stuff. Is it a problem? How do you get it all out,
short of rodding the radiator, dipping the block, etc. ? Are there
quick and easy solutions, short of getting a companion named
Goldilocks? My wife would object to that.
