VIN Numbers

A co-worker has purchased a Lotus 11 Westfield's kit car.  
It's being shipped across the country as you read this.  
There was mention of a recepit about a VIN number of 
EANXXXXXX (the owner had died and he is buying it from his 
wife).  Does anyone know what particular Marque the VIN 
number is from?
