Just three more days till the Day Before The Britcars Day tour!
As a final reminder, we'll be meeting between 9:30 and 10 AM
in the Palo Alto Elks Club parking lot, on El Camino Real near
Arastradero. From there we'll go "up the airy mountain, down
the rushy glen," as the poem goes, into the redwoods and across
the beach roads.
We'll stop for a picnic, probably at a beach this year as we did
two years ago (Bean Hollow is a great one). You can either bring
your own picnic gear or do the right thing and pick up a loaf of
hot, fresh sourdough-garlic artichoke bread at Norm's Market in
Pescadero along with the rest of your picnic makings. Norm's
not only doesn't take American Express, they don't take personal
checks either, so bring a little cash.
We will be stopping at places with restrooms every hour or so
for those who need reassurance about such things. The overall
duration of the trip this year is likely to be about 100 miles,
so plan accordingly with respect to oil, water, and gas. And
of course the event is free as usual.
These events are always enjoyable, a great excuse to see what
these cars were made for -- rolling along the crests and hollows
of a hilly country road, not slogging through commuters and
transit buses in semiurban congestion.
