I think I might be getting into this a little late and may have
misunderstood your situation but if you are trying to adjust the cam
timing there is such a thing as an adjustable cam sprocket. Vernier
and Kent make them available through Moss Motors and Seven Industries.
You can adjust the cam without taking the chain or sprockets off.
But, If you insist... I would have to agree with Ben and the
Clothesline concept. Sound like you might end up decorating your
engine compartment with various sprocket and chain parts.
