i have a 5 speed kit from Mini Motors in my bugeye. no modifications
to the body are required. if you give them a call, they'll send you
a bunch of info, pricelists & what not. the kit includes a new
aluminum engine backplate, rear transmission mount, and the necessary odds
& ends. your flywheel has to be modified to take the datsun clutch,
and there's some cutting required on the trans. i got a full kit
with a used transmission for around $1000 (not bad, considering rebuilt
ribcases are almost that much these days) if you have any specific
questions, just ask. installation is a bit fiddly (i had to remove the
crank pulley & drop the oil pan to clear that obnoxious front cross member).
the clutch action is pretty tight, even with the 7/8" AH3k clutch slave i'm
using. the 1275 sprite clutch has a 1" bore, but the bleed nipple's on
the wrong side. if you have any questions, just ask!
