While my TR6 is in pieces I did reveneer my dash with the help of a funiture
instructor ( one of the benefits of working in the college system is the
resources
available ). I used a piece of burled walnut and the results were great.
Tips I can offer:
1. sand the old veneer off making sure the surface is perfectly level.
fill any irregularities will spot putty.
2. white carpenters glue is fine if you don't leave your top up in the rain
3. a veneer press is a neccessity, if you don't have access to one try
sandwiching
the veneer, glue and old dash between some felt, 2 straight boards with
the use of some clamps
4. use a sharp utility knife to trim the dash once the glue has dried.
5. I used seven or eight coats of a epoxy sealer, wet sanding between each
coat[C[t
The final coat, wet sand and then use auto wax and buff to a shine.
final cost $ 40 dollars for the veneer
$6 sealer
about 5 hours of labour (fun stuff, seemed like 1 hour)
well best of luck
