You can put teflon tape, miracle glop, silicone caulk, whatever you want on
the threads. It won't help. The threads simply hold the two sealing surfaces
together, they do not provide a seal themselves. Check the flare on the
end of the line for cracks and deformation, such as caused by someone trying
to stop a minor leak by overtightening the fittings. Check the seat in the
cylinder for pitting or scratches. A little abrasive pad work can help clean
up the end of the line if the seat is okay.
