I agree.  I like the colour aubergine too ("eggplant" to the Yanks).
The Jag restoration folks at Vicarage were selling some cars in that colour.  
The Vicarage 3.8L MKII also looked beautiful.

BRG is also one of my all-time favourite colours too.  The darker the better.

Aston Martin has some nice classy, dark colours as well.
