This reads like your TR6 and my BGT as two birds of the same feather.
Frustrating as !@#$%!!

Lets see. Your clutch seems to work if you are in gear. But not if you go
between gears. Well my first guess is that you have a leaky clutch hydrolic
system with air in it. The clutch is almost releasing. When you have the
clutch peddel pressed down in gear its released enough so that it slips.
However is you take it out of gear it spins the front gear in the transmission
so you can't get it in.

You will probably need to rebuild someting in the clutch hydrolic system & bleed
the puppy.

If your lucky, thats the problem.

Hope it stays together longer than the BGT does. Um you don't happen to have an
MG too do you?
