After the first revision of the Rover V8 in 76 it was revised again in 81 or
82. In this engine (and the current one) extra webbing was cast into the block
to strengthen it. So it'd be best to start with a 1982 or later Range Rover
or SD1 engine. You can put high compression pistons in these too providing you
have the fuel to run it.
Some Rover P6B engine require at least 100 Octane (RON) fuel. If you using
87 Octane fuel (our unleaded) then you can modify it up from 8.13:1 to about
9:1. At 10.5:1 you're likely to blow your engine.
