First, I would like to thank all the people who reply to my
metering needle problem and especially Bill Woodruff for his
advise and header(I swear I'll put it on one of these day).
I have just rebuilt the ZS carb on my 78 Spitfire and it is
now running smooth and I'm also not getting any more blooms of black
smoke from my tail pipe when I acclerate. Also, to my supprise
the hot water automatic choke seems to be working once I've cleared
the blockage on the outlet pipe and adjusted it. The only problem
now is the fast idle speed, I can't get it to idle under 2000rpm
when the engine is cold. Once it have warmed up, the idle drops to
around 800rpm. I have tried to adjust the fast idle screw to the
point of removing it with no effect. Does anyone have any ideas as
to how to fix this problem. Thanks in anticipation.
Dave
