Having recently removed all the chrome strips from Tintin for a
disappointing paint job, I found that the strips were held on by little
buttons that were pop-riveted to the body. Pressing downwards and pulling
the bottom outwards got them 90% off. There is also one fastener that
is bolted to the body, a little metal plate. You can either reach up
under the fender behind the headlight and unscrew the nut or you can pop
the strip off of all of the other fasteners and then slide the strip
forward all the way until the cutout on the backside of the strip
aligns with the metal plate and the strip comes off.
FYI, on the side strips, the plate is in the center and the cutout
is at either end, on the back strips the plate is at the back, the
cutout at the front.
Presumably this arrangement is to avoid annoying truck drivers
by asking them to stop to extract your strip from their treads,
but it likely only leads to dragging strips for miles. They could serve
as passable curb feelers...

that even driving the speed limit is a thrill!"
