I am reminded of the advice a factory-trained Jaguar mechanic gave
me some years ago. I was hot on adding a Jag to my inventory
of British cars. In the process of searching for am XK120/140/150
I ran across an elderly mechanic. He had worked on Jags since they
were new (i.e. since the fifties). After talking for a while
about Lucas and other anomolies of Anglo-automotive engineering
he gave me the following advice.
"the first accessory a British car owner should get is a
General Motors car to go get parts with".
His advice proved true. I have 294,465 miles on my '76 Olds
(original engine, never rebuilt). I have towed 2 MGBs, 1 MGA
and 4 Rileys to date with the Olds.
I am shure it could tow Alphas with equal ease. Alpha parts
will fit in the trunk with equal ease.
