As I mentioned in my post, there are ways of getting around the heavy cabling problem required for the cheapie ammeters you can buy at any auto parts store or J.C. Whitney. I'd probably go for the current sensing loop approached since it's the simplest and most passive; but for cheapness and ease of installation, it's hard to beat a voltmeter. You just mount it anywhere, connect one side to ground and the other side to almost any hot wire in sight. |
