Hi,
Well I did it, I told myself not to, I even prmoised myself that I wouldn't...
Last Friday I took the day off work and drove up the A217 onto the M25 up the
A24, 2nd left at the roundabout and then turned right into a forecourt with
a big yellow sign saying Caterham Cars !
After having a breif chat whilst explaining the disimilarities (sp?) twixt
Colin Chapman and myself (5'8ish vs 6'1'') I got to sit in several sevens.
There was the red HPC 175hp 16v DOHC, the green K series 111hp and a couple of
others. The long and - joyfully - the short of it is that yes I can FIT IN
A SEVEN !!!!
The deciding factor is the S-type adjustable seats. Custom made for Caterham
they are much thinner that the bench or standard adjustable seats. I sit
about 2 to 3 " lower than with the bench seats and about 1 to 2 " further
back. All in all a damn fine day !
Caterham have stopped selling the de-dion starter kit but have said that they
would sell me a CKD 1700 xflow minus the engine and gearbox. This will leave
me free to purchase reconed engine and box and save about 2000 pounds.
I have sent a letter to Caterham today asking for a firm price on the spec
I want and should be putting down an deposit in the next couple of weeks !
Spring is most definitly here.............
