I grabbed this discussion off the company's internal bbs. Besides
giving a little information about the new LR line, I thought it might
give a little of the flavor of the parking lot here at Uncle Bill's
Fine Pizza & Software House - dvh.

one of the two new 1993 Land Rover Defender 110s on campus is mine, the
one spotted outside buildings 4 and 20. there is another one, seen
outside building 19 -- the same building which has the Hummer in it --
which belongs to RickThom. i don't know of any other Defenders on
campus; the only other i know about in Washington state is in Yakima.
there are about 10 Range Rover models on campus.

the US Defender 110 is basically a left-hand-drive model of the normal
UK Defender 110 "station wagon" model, except for the external "safari
cage" (derived from the Land Rover/Camel Trophy configurations), and
some other optional excessories which've included. the last time
something close to this was available in North America was the predece
sor to the Defender line, the Land Rover Series III, in the 1970s. and
now with the introduction of a non-Range Rover model this
year, "Range Rover of North America" changed their name to a more
proper "Land Rover North America", then they released 500 Defenders
110s in North America (including US and Canada).

rumor has it that in 1994 Land Rover is going to try and take more of
the North American 4x4 market with their popular, lower-priced Land
Rover Discover line.

and last month, Land Rover North America introduced new versions of the
Range Rover, with cool air-based suspension and more powerful engines
and some other features.
