|Subj: MGB oil pressure update
------------------------------------------------------------------
I finished my bearing transplant last Friday. The rod bearings were
worn, with only very slight scoring on the lower half o number 2
cylinder. I was getting some rod knock, that's why this whole thing
started in the first place. I also put new mains in the the three
center sections. The center main looked real good, but the two smaller
mains on either side were pretty well worn. The bottom halves looked
pretty good, while the top halves didn't look so good. I used to have
about 10 psi at hot idle and about 35 psi at cruising. Now I have 25 at
hot idle and about 55-60 at cruising speed. The gauge responds pretty
quickly, so I guess the pump is ok. I did a cursory check when I had
the pan off, but no real close inspection. So this should hold me until
I can rebuild this baby, maybe next year.
So, I'll order the front suspension rebuild kit from TRF during
the winter sale and keep driving until I can put it in when spring rolls
around.

P.S. - Is there a know problem with the valve rocker assembly ? I saw a
modification in the Moss catalog and was wondering.
