Speaking as the lone Alvis representative on this list: Get an Alvis. Pick
an early '60's model (the "TF", I think it is), either 5-speed or automatic.
You get a big 3-litre in-line six, double SU's, and if you buy automatic you
get a GM turbo-hydramatic(tm) with a unique slide-control shifter on the
dash, and a second slide control under it to adjust the shift points. You
get a nice real wood dash, leather interior, sunroof, eight zillion Smiths
gauges and tinted plexiglass sun visors that stow at just the right angle to
reflect the dash gauges below at night, thus doubling your nighttime instru-
mentation. ;-) Add wire wheels and Rudge knockoffs, get onto the A45 outside
Cambridge at night and floor it. Works for me! :-)
