I was putting my softtop back on last night when I noticed that
the chrome finishing piece actually goes inside the large triangular
metal piece that connects the convertible hood to the car just behind the
doors. It can't go outside the hood attachments, since then the hood
will not fold back. What gives here? Shouldn't a chrome piece
go *outside* the ugly grey metal piece and not inside where it is hidden?
The chrome piece is flat with a triangular base. Connected to the top
of the triangle is a rectangular cube with a hole in the base of it. On
my former MGB this attachment is what the hard top went into. A screw went
into the hole to secure the top in the bracket.

Has a previous owner fitted the wrong hood, or is this just what happens
when you ahve a folding softtop instead of a hardtop?

Thanks,

Will
