It's taken a week, but I finally have a few
minutes to recap the adventures of taking the Bugeye to
California Capri Club's driver's school @ Laguna Seca.

Initially this was meant to be a get the bugs out
for La Carrera, but unfortunately I didn't quite complete
all of the modifications (read $%&#ing Panhard)
beforehand so we just went with what we had (and still
     had a blast !)
Laguna Seca Raceway lies about 70 miles down the
coast from where I'm at, so it was not unthinkable to
drive Redcar there instead of trailering it. So drive it
was, and with the passenger seat removed, I was just
able to squeeze the two 5gal gas cans, air tank, two
tool boxes, floor jack, helmet & suit, various articles
of food and clothing, and me, into the car. Now,
leaving as early as we did to be there by 7am required
that breakfast be eaten in route. This is where the
first mishap occured, when I was fully attacked by my
     food.
With windows out it was a bit chilly, so I had
picked up some coffee, and now, like a crazy person, I
was going to attempt to drink it out of a tissue thin
styrofoam cup, while keeping this veritable go-kart in a
realtively straight line on 101 at 70 mph. No sooner than I
had attempted to lift the convenient little drinking
tab, than the lid came off and the thinly disguised 300
degree rocket fuel that 7-eleven calls coffee saw it's
chance to escape, and lept forth onto my lap.
I laugh about this now, as this probably had the
same effect as drinking it would have. Either way I was
now *wide awake*. I attempted the muffin next, and
succeeded in covering thie inside of the car with
muffin crumbs, as w/o window, ah, let's say it's a bit
drafty in there. I gave up eating at this point.
Rolling into Salinas @6:30am we had our first
(and thankfully only) mechanical mishap, when the rear
generator bushing expired noisily. Upon inspection, I
saw that the lubrication plunger had ventured out
on it's own, causing the bearing to run dry. A bit of
foam soaked in oil was stuffed into the plunger hole,
and a tie wrap to hold it all in place and we were on
our way. At 7:10am we entered the paddock to Laguna
     Seca.
