Or, just obtain a new crossshaft and clutch fork, then cut out the old one
with a die grinder and some cutting wheels.

  ****  There is a third solution.  First, you position the fork properly on
the shaft.  Then you take your MIG welder and run a good bead at each side
where the shaft enters the fork.  Of course, this fix is only good til the next
time you need to get at the transmission, but if you were going to just cut the
shaft off anyway....
