OFFICE MEMO TR3 Brake Calipers Date:4/14/92
It was late last night, I was tired...
I was pulling a brake caliper off the Clankster. I started with a couple
of the bolts at the edge. Then I realized that the actual bolts that fasten
the caliper to the axle are further in. So I put the edge bolts back on and
tightened them up.
Now I see, in the Moss catalog, they say.
"Do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES separate the split Girling caliper. They
are not designed to be disassembled and reassembled, and proper torque specs
for the edge bolts are not published. Inner and outer bolts are torqued to
different values".
Now, I didn't actually SPLIT the casing, but I DID loosen two of the
bolts. Anybody got any idea as to what to torque them to?
