rings on a GT6+

My GT6+ needs rings. I was going to pull the head to freshen it anyway,
so now's the time. 

The service manual says that I should be able to pull the pan and pop
out the pistons with the engine in place, using a comealong to lift the
manifold side of the engine. Have any of you GT6 owners actually done
this? Gotchas I can avoid?
