The engine on my MGA Mk II is out! Last Saturday I rented an engine lift from
a local tool rental shop and started to remove engine and transmission, as
described in my Haynes-Manual. Everything went just fine until we actually
wanted to pull the engine and transmission out of the car - there was just not
enough space to get it out of the engine compartment! In the end we ended up
carefully separating the engine from the transmission inside the car,
afterwards it was a peace-of-cake! These manuals ...
All I did yesterday was cleaning - all day long! First the transmission,
engine and engine compartment, than the garage and in the end my clothes!
Besides replacing first gear :-( I want to replace some gaskets and repaint
the engine in its original color. I know that some people use gasket sealers.
What are they? Where do you use them? Which brand is the best? Do you need
different sealers for different gasket materials? Also, where is the best
place to get a new first gear? They seem to be pretty expensive!
