If you think those brakes on your 1500 are bad, you should see the old
single leading shoe ones on my dad's 47 MG Y type. He put MGB disks on it,
because he wanted to drive the car to work everyday. It is not a straight
swap. The Y, T, and A series all shared the same lower A-arms and kingpins,
while the B uses a totally different kingpin. My dad ended up using 'B
shocks, kingpins, and little bits from the 'B crossmember. This was because
the mounting points for the shocks on the 'B are a fraction of an inch
higher that they are on the earlier cars. So the short answer is... If
you can find 1600 brakes, it will be a lot less work.
