Re: carbs on 1500/1300

John Twist suggests using twin HIF4s on the 1500. HS2 might be too small for
the 1500.
In any event if you change carbs on a car or mess with almost anthing the
needleprofile WILL not be correct. SU carbs from one engine design will NOT be
properly set up for another engine. Often when you swap carbs, start the
engine and expect to pinned to the back of the seat by all those extra GGs you
are disapointed because the needle profile to way off. SU carbs are great
if they are set up correctly. They are also very versatile and you can use
them on many different engines BUT you MUST get the correct needle. How do
you do this ?? You need $$$, a good mechanic with a rolling road set up,
and a large supply of needles!! (Good luck finding this in the US)
