Now that you mention it, I have a vague recollection of this too. I
definitely recall a heated exchange between the owner of this car and the
tech inspectors at a hill climb event over the car's oil cooler. It
stuck way up above the rear body line. Looked illegal as hell to me.
The car was eventually let through but maybe in some other class. I
don't recall. I looked the car over after the race and the inside was
completely gutted. One of the other competitors told me the car was way
under legal weight but this guy was one the of the embarrassed losers so I'm
not too sure how reliable his information was.
Later I head from some racing friends that the car wasn't allowed to
compete in an SCCA event in California because of its illegal oil
cooler.
