Yea, except for the rear seal on an A-series engine consists of a metal
flange which mates against the crank- there's a spiral grove in the
end of the crank which is supposed to act like an auger to keep the
oil in . Right. You might cause more trouble by repositioning the flange
than leaving it alone. The other seal in the area is the rear pan seal,
which you might replace, *if* you want to replace all the pan seals due
to leakage. (you might also have to remove the rear engine plate to get
at the flange, I can't quite recall. You do have to tear off the front
and rear plates to get the main bearings off. :-( The flange (semi-circle)
may also be hard to get a replacement for.)
