Jim- your best bet is a pull the engine, full rebuild. Why? Well, you
stand a better chance of finding the source of the problem. It could
be bad bearings, pump, etc, (was your oil pressure low, or not?) Or, there
could be a plugged oil passage somewhere. In the head, or the block?
It's better to flush all passages now, than suffer a re-occurance.
You can have the block tanked, which should clean _everything_.
Yea, I know the full job isn't cheap. Especially if you're paying
someone to do everything. At least you should end up with an engine good
for the next 100K...
