"The naming of cats is a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games.
You may think at first that I'm mad as a hatter
When I tell you a cat must have three different names."
--T.S. Eliot, "The Naming of Cats"
from _Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats_
My daughter (2-1/2) has been naming things lately.
When she sees a dog, she always says "Look, Daddy,
a dog! Name is... um..." and then she comes up
with a name. Usually they're baby-gibberish, but
recently she was asking about our cars. Well,
since all *my* cars have names, I went around and
told her: "This one is Maybelline, and this one
is Sport, and this one is Gibraltar, and this one
is the Biscuit Tin of Steel (but you can call him
Biccie), and this one is Colour Sergeant Bourne."
Then we got to the new B. "Name is?" she asked.
"Well, *you* can name this car, Torrey," I suggested.
"Name is... ummm... Sky Car!" she crowed.
Sky Car it is. *She* knows what MGs are for.
