I am rebuilding a 1977, 1500 Triumph Spitfire engine. I came across
a set of (dual) SU HS2's (from a triumph 1300 engine) to replace the
original single Stromberg. Today I called British Parts North West,
they advised me to avoid the HS2 carburators as they will take away
from the power. My assumption is that 2 each 1 1/4 dia. HS2 is better
than a single Stromberg. According to some indications, 1500 Spits
for the British market used 1 1/2 inch SU's and later used 1 1/4"
HS2 carbs.
I was thinking I could re-jet the HS2 to compensate somewhat for the
larger engine capacity. British Parts North West said I wouldn't be
able to find needles to improve this.
I am looking for other opinions because I have gone to great efforts
to make these carbs nice. Anyone with experience in replacing
single Strombergs with SU carbs?

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to respond.
