The automatic choke on my TR7 was seriously hacked by the previous
owner. It is now beyond hope. I have the choke mechanism from a
TR6 which also uses the Stromberg 175 CD. After playing with a
spare carb that came with the car and a careful examination of my
Spitfire carb that uses manual choke I have discovered I can drill
the carb body to have the same passages as a manual choke model.
Does anyone know of any reason why this won't work? The manual
choke is an incredibly simple beast so I can't see any issues
with this, other than the obvious of taking a Makita to my carbs,
but I'm brave.
Thanks in advance for any comments
