N.E. Regional Meet - Princeton, NJ

As posted, here's a brief follow-up on the N.E. Regional
Triumph Meet hosted by the N.J. Triumph Assn. this
past weekend. I stopped down Friday afternoon/evening.

Registration had slightly over 100 by Friday evening, so
the event was a success. Weather could have been better,
but even the rain didn't have a major impact as the
autocross on Friday was held on one of the levels of the
Marriot's garage facility. This, then must be a first,
at least for the Vintage Triumph Register, to have held
an "indoors" autocross. Times for the auto-cross were
generally around 25 seconds (the winners that is).

Friday night, Mike Cook, head of Jaguar Cars Public Relations
gave a talk on his involvement with Triumphs in the USA
from when he bought his first TR-2 through his involvement
with Standard-Triumph and up to the end of the TR production.

As is usual with most VTR conventions and regionals, the Roadster
Factory had their "store" set up and was doing a brisk business.

Next major Triumph event is the National Meet in Boulder, Colorado.
Dates are Aug 1 to 5, 1990. If anyone needs more info, call
Mark Kemberling 303-690-6864 (evenings) or Blake Tomlin 303-294-0450 days.
I talked to Mark last night and they already had 185 registrations with
additional registrations coming in at a rate of 3 to 6 a day. My
guess is that this event will likely have a total registration in
the area of 300. In the past, that usually represents a turn-out
off at least 250 cars.
