[Clutch not disengaging]

Sounds potentialy Hydraulic. Does it help if you pump the pedal a few times?
Sometimes, if you have air in the lines, or a leaky master cylinder,
you can pump it up enough to disengage. You can check by observing the
action of the slave's push rod when someone steps on the pedal. If
it doesn't move much, you've found which system has a problem. (Rod/
lever movement on a good system is probably about an inch, if that.

>the clutch plate, disk and
>T/O (throw-out?) bearing are about 3000 miles old

The mechanical bits are *likely* to still be in good shape. If you used a
graphite T-O bearing, it could have disintegrated, but not likely. The MGB
T-O bearing was updated around 74-5 to a modern, rotating part instead
of the graphite job. This is usable in all B's, and should be preferable.
(No, thep Spridget/A-series never got this upgrade. They even have
different size bearings, clutches, and flywheels for the different engines.)

>The previous owner had the slave cylinder rebuilt

This is no guarrentee that the slave is working. The cylinder may not
have been honed, or may be pitted, or the seals may have failed. (DOT 3
at some point?) A slave cyl usually fails by leaking fluid, or seizing.

>and the clutch linkage rebuilt at the master cylinder two years ago.

And how about the master cylinder it self? It's the most likely candidate
here, if bleeding doesn't work. The seals may have failed such that the
fluid blows back past them into the resivouir, instead of out to the world.
The clutch slave cylinder is relativly easy to rebuild, and even easier
to replace. If you rebuild, make sure the cylinder bore is in good shape,
hone it lightly if possible. (Small cylinder hone)
Good luck

And then there were three... The SLCFWSC has come a ways this
spring. The dynamo bearings for the PA finally came, so it is up and
running again, leaky rings and all. Next, it's time to play musical
engines with the MGB's, after I fix the brake M.C. on the Sprite...
