After years of meaning to read it because of the title, I'm finally about
1/2 throuugh ZEN AND THE ART OF MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE. Good stuff.
One passage in particular drew pictures of our Healey in my brain.
Several netters have wondered aloud why we put so much into our LBCs
when there's so much machinery out there that's objectively better. This
doesn't answer the question, but it pharases it nicely
"The test of the machine is the satisfaction it gives you. there
isn't any other test. If the machine produces tranquillity it's
right. If it disturbs you it's wrong until either the machine
or your mind is changed. The test of the machine's always your
own mind. There isn't any other test."
