On Scott's posting re: AC Cobra:
Great posting! I once had a chance to buy into a 289
Cobra that needed A LOT of work, and passed it by due to
other car commitments. (Of which I have talked about on
the Italian car mailing list...)
This 289 had a racing history, and was way beyond stock.
At that time, only stock Cobras were really collectible, and
this example wasn't even street legal. The owner was asking
$15,000; with an extra $500 for the trailer.
 Oh well.....
 News!
The transmission finally came out of my Spit Sat. afternoon,
only to reveal a clutch with a split personality. No wonder
the front spinny parts didn't make the rear spinny parts do
their thing. I've heard of this happening on Spridgets, but
on that paragon of reliability, the Triumph Spitfire? (All
kidding aside, other than a temperamental electronic ignition
and a tendency to catch fire, the only probs my Spit has had
over the last three years were due to the incredible ineptitude
of the previous owner. Current goal: on the road by Easter!)
 Spitfire! It's not just a name, it's a symptom!
