I was driving my '75 Bricklin yesterday and stopped for lunch. When I came
back out, it wouldn't start. When I turned the key, a couple of dash lights
came on, but the starter didn't turn over and the starter relay didn't click.
The battery seemed to be fine, but I tried jumping it anyway with no effect.
I tried the shift lever in both neutral and park in case the neutral safety
switch was slightly misaligned, but no luck there either. I let it sit a
while to see if the problem was heat related, but still nothing. Finally,
somebody loaned me a piece of wire and I jumpered the starter relay. It started
right up then.
Today, it starts fine every time. Any ideas?
It seems to me that the ignition switch or the neutral safety switch are the
most likely cuplrits. Seems strange that the problem is intermittent.
