You should go with the LT1 from a 92-96 Corvette. It has a distributor
but it is located basically on the front of the crank and not the rear of
the engine. It is a low profile engine and is shorter that a TPI engine.
And its accessories are mounted in a good place. This is popular for LT1
swaps in to Chevrolet S-10 trucks and street rods.
