Did any of the cars come from the factory with assist stuts?
None that I am aware of, except prototypes.
Or where they all put on during conversion to air... from hydraulic?
Yes, they are used in the air door conversions.
If the latter then vin number should not be the factor.
And yes the vin is a factor. The location of where the ball stud attaches to
the door determines this. and earlier doors are different than the later
ones. check out your own car.
