gas tank sending unit

Seems 782 has a gas gauge problem. When I turn on the key the gauge will go to
the half mark but I know it got a full tank. I'm guessing sending unit. I
would appreciate any info on changing it as I have never dealt with one
before. If it is bad what would be a replacement? Any tricks or things to
watch out for when changing it?
