It sounds to me like of a couple of things,
First and least costly is bad connections, check them for cleanliness and
tightness.
Second is the starter is shorted or seized. some times the bendix hangs on
the flywheel when the engine starts and implodes.
Third if the engine doesn't turn by hand it may be stuck or seized. Try
removing the spak plugs and soaking the cylinders with a good penetrating
oil, let it sit a day or two and do it again. Then GENTLY try to rock the
engine back and forth. DO NOT force the issue, you will break the rings or
worse. if it doesn't move soak somemore and keep trying or pull it out and
replace it. Once it breaks loose, drain and change the oil before starting
and turn it over several time with the plugs out to pump the penetarting oil
out of the cylinders. Now you can replace the plugs and try to start it. If
it smokes real bad and doesn't get much better real quick the rings are
probably seized to the pistons. two choices rebuild or relpace. Ford
motorsport makes a real nice 392 stroker crate engine that will fit up using
some of the original hardware like oil pan, mounts, pulleys, brackets etc.
This motor will really motivate your brick.
best of luck
