It turns out that the MagnaFlow muffler previously reported used an internal
straight thru "X pipe". This presented a problem with opposing pressures
meeting at the intersection. The Bassani's Quiet Thunder muffler uses a
dead air space "H" configuration which also incurs some turbulence but
would also have an added benefit of additional sound attenuation. Either
muffler can be used and the results are not certain, largely dependent upon
any modifications made with the powerplant. The Bassani also more closely
matched the size of the OEM and can be configured with any variety of in/out
diameters and up to 4" extensions and can be custom spec'd internally to the
exact powerplant at no additional charge. Both mufflers are available in
SS, the MagnaFlow is also available in aluminized steel and the Bassani is
available in polished for an extra $50. Bassani is well-known in Steeda
Mustang circles. Based on these factors Bassani's was finally selected.
Here is the resulting order:

P/N: 14568
inlet 2.5" dia., 2.25" length, swedged
outlet 2.5" dia., 4.0" length, non-swedged
case dim. 5"x10"x24"
Built to order chambered to modified engine specs and est. flow and sound
attenuation desire (some compromise is always necessary)
Polished
cost $250.00
Other specs:
Case: SS T-304 16 gauge, mig-welded
Internal components: All SS

The tips being used are Gibson's Polished SS turn down with integrated
clamps" 2.5 in, 3" out, 12" length

Exhaust:
2.5" diameter
Headers: Stock '95 Mustang GT tubular shorty style header/manifold, JET
coated inside and out. 1 5/8" tubing, slightly modified to fit the B.
Inline SS braided flex connectors by MagnaFlow, 2.5 diameter, 12" length to
reduce vibration and stress.
The tips will be modified( or the attempt ) to include some resonance
treatment IF the sound characteristic is judged not appropriate.

Well, there you have it. I hope this helps others. I'll post the results
ASAP, probably in a week or so. I'll post a pic if I can. I'm keeping my
fingers crossed. This is one alternative, I'm sure there are others.
