I did this swap the first weekend. Since it had to look stock, I left it and
just had the vacuum line disappear behind the motor.
In looking at mine, I don't think the linkage will clear through it's travel
without some spacing. I don't recall whether the Holly bores matches the
spacer, or manifold, or neither. By this I mean the individual throttle
bores, rather than just a big cutout. The ideal is a perfect hole match with
the carb bores, spacer (if used), and manifold. Mating to a big cutout
reduces max CFM capability.
FWIW, mine ran as sweet as you could ask for. Cold start, idling, off idle
throttle response, kickdown, etc., with improved economy.
I haven't read the article, but unless you only drive in warm weather,
you'll need the electric choke kit.
