Hi Randy,
I have owned Bricklins since 1980,the problem you are talking
about is
that at the roof seams about 4ins.long,running above the
windshield and rear
hatch? If that is the problem it is a common problem and easily
repairable.
The main concern is the frame, and the Fiberglass body and panel
fit.The
problem with the frame is that no drain holes were ever drilled in
the frame
and therefore if water and moisture collect inside the square tube
frame it
could rust from the inside out,so go over the frame with a fine
tooth comb.
The fiberglass body was made in the same process as the fiberglass
tubs
with a layer of acylic bonded to the surface of the panel, but the
problem
with the bricklin panels,is that they are exposed to the rays of
the sun and
when they heat up the fiberglass expands at one rate and the
acylic
expands at a different rate,so that over time, you will see spider
web style
cracks all over the body.Just keep the car garaged and don't
leave it parked
all day in 90 degree sun and the car will be allright. Hope this
info helps.
