Bill- I am not 100% on this but I beleive it is 3/8" UNF or in other words =
3/8-27TPH. I beleive there is supposed to be a copper washer Between the bo=

Once more=2C Hi agaain
The oil filter leak. It is the oil filter seal. I tightened up th=
e extention to motor bracket holding bolt. Took about 1/4 turn with the sa=
me socket used to take out the oil plug. Leak was the same. Cleaned thing=
s up=2C got a mirror=2C got a good light on it=2C yep the oil was comming o=
ut between the filter and the mount. tried tightening=2C tried on off seve=
ral tiimes=2C still leaked. I think the engine attachment is cross threade=
d. And their may not be enough thread. So I plan to chase the thread. An=
d I am looking for some 1/4 inch thick rubber to make a big washer. It sur=
e can leak a gusher. Up to a qauart from the time it takes to walk around t=
he car after reaching in and starting it=2C looking at it with a mirror=2C =
walking back and turning it off. Anyone know the actual threar size. Sur=

Have you checked the bolt that holds the filter housing to the block. It i=
s one large bolt that often works itself loose =96 you may need to change t=
hat o ring between the block and the filter housing =96 not the oil filter =
or its seal." He confirms what I am now thinking. His remark also explain=
s the structure. So my next move is the check how tight that bolt is. I j=

Sat morning July 2=2C 2011
Hi again=2C
In changing the oil in my MGB=2C it is not the filter seal of the i=
nverted oil filter that is leaking. Oil is running out directly underneart=
h in a 1/4" + dia stream as the engine iddles. I have changed the oil filt=
er seal to an O-Ring=2C initally held in the grove with grease. Last night=
I was working in the dark with a flash light. I have had the car up with =
a jack=2C I will raise it again and see if I can inspect the underside of t=
he Oil Filter mount.
Thanks for all suggestions=2C =
I may have to replace the filter mount. I am hopeing a plug has fallen out=
=2C Just crossing my fingers. I don't know the details=2C but on the inter=
net a Moss Oil Filter SPIN-ON type INVERTED MOUNT MGB & GT 1970-on Moss# 95=
0-000 $8.50=2C is at sales@classicautospares.us . Victoria Secret's pri=
ce is $290.00

Hi=2C
I am attempting to chang the oil in my 72 MGB=2C I have four quarts
of oil (covered with sawdust) on my concrete driveway=2C I can't get the
inverted filter to seal=2C or did I break the mount getting the old filter
off. I first tryde a Phram PF8A Ford filder=2C thread and seal seamed to
match=2C but it leaked. Now I have a NAPA Gold Wix 1068. The first time I
tried to install it the seal apparently fell out of the groove before it
contacted. I have tried it several times since. It still is leaking
profusley. Have I busted something=2C or is it a trick to put the filter
on? Do I need to chase the thread on the car mount? Or do I need to use
a torque wrench? The surface on the seal plate does not look very good.=20
Should I change out the seal on the filter with and O-Ring? Anybody
tried that? If it that seal that is not working=2C I think the O-Ring idea
might be good.
