People currently boasting National Championships and claiming "Atwater did
it," are to be commended for developing their cars and skills.
Our problem in SF Region is attracting the next generation. Moving
all of our events to sites well outside the central bay area might provide
happiness for that select group for a moment or two but the other aspect of
their success is shrinkage of the program that brought them here.
There have been some rather ruthless types inside our region that
want us to abandon all bay area sites. They have their proper reasons, I'm
sure. Mostly it's becasue they have taken their economic clout and moved to
the far suburbs. It is my opinion we need to bring all of this together
into one group inside the central Bay Area. Other wise our program will go
broke. Or we will have to raise entry fees so high we will lose more people
that way. It's a conundrum.
It is my suggestion we just carry on as we have been doing and
time, plus early season attendance spurts, will bring us back to where we
want to be.
An ongoing difficulty is that a lot of independent clubs are
seeking to use the same sites we do.
