I can confirm both parts, I was at the Stockton event myself and witnessed the

Randy ran his '81 Z/28 in BSP when Corvettes and Camaros and Mustangs were all
classed together in 1983-'84, Randy & Christie drove his Camaro to the
Nationals in Salina with Marsha Heckert's Husband towing their '69 Corvette,
and me towing my '65 Corvette in '84, It was a good year for the three of us,
Randy trophied and Marsha and I won. Lot's of good memories from that trip.
Sometimes I think the road trips are some of the best (and worst) part of the
sport.
'83- Trying to pass an Olds in Western Kansas that sped up going uphill and
coasted down the other side when we were trying to make time, so we got someone
in front of him and held him up while our entire caravan went by, then we
blocked him for 50 miles so he couldn't get back in front. The nun in the back
seat appeared to be saying the rosary the whole time...
'89- Towing Jeff Glorioso's BSP Vette behind his undermaintained Bronco, and
having to drive the Vette into Flagstaff on Hoosier Autocrossers as the sun
went down when the Bronco pulled up lame, and then doing a tuneup in PizzaHut's
parking lot on a Saturday night. Oh, and being mooned by Jeff Reitmeir
numerous times on the way to Kansas
'98- Writing a talent show act on the way to KS in the Kelly's van while Katie
was driving, only to have Roger Johnson tell Katie that he was sure I hadn't
written it myself. Her reply: "I was there while he was writing it..."
'99- Topeka KS 6:30 AM Saturday morning --- Burlingame CA at 10:30 AM Sunday
Morning towing an MR-2 behind a Lexus LX470...
'04- Chris Heiny had 2 flats on the trailer on the way to KS, and the hood blew
off the Firebird on the way back. I flew both ways. Sometimes, timing is
everything...
Ya' gotta go to the Nationals! It's just too much fun.
