Site acquisition

Can someone point me toward resources about site acquisition? I'm in the 
Las Vegas region. Compared to a major metropolitan area, we have fewer 
potential sites, and less revenue. Any information, such as site costs, and 
the stories behind your successes would be helpful. Interesting, how Golden 
Gate Fields, and Crows Landing have become viable again.
