Are your brakes smoking?

The WHY about your brakes is that you have then ON all the time and they're
getting HOT.
That eventually will wear them out early and heat your brake fluid as well
to a point where they will be useless.

        The smoking is a warning you're doing something WRONG. It's not the
left-foot braking, per se, but the constant pressure of your foot. So learn
to back off.

It appears you're using the brake as a foot rest. Uh, stop doing it.
